Living Wage Foundation Accreditation:
At Bead, we believe that all our employees should be paid the living wage, not the minimum wage. We have commenced with accreditation for the Living Wage foundation. From Day 1 at Bead, all employees are given appropriate training, usually on site, irrespective of their previous experience. On the first day, they will be given training in the following areas:
An introduction to workplace rules and procedures
Health and Safety (including COSHH)
Customer care (Including Cleaning Schedule)
The Contracts Manager introduces the cleaning schedule to all employees, to make sure that the customer’s cleaning requirements are fully understood.
Further training is offered to all employees on an as and when basis and to improve their efficiency in their roles.
We regularly hold individual supervisions to ensure that the employees work is monitored and assessed against the customer specifications. Any employee not meeting the required standard is required to re-train which is managed by the Contracts Manager.
Each employee also has an annual review and given the opportunity to receive further training and support.
All positive feedback is always communicated back to the relevant cleaning operative and the customer is given the opportunity to nominate their own cleaners for the “Employee Star Award”.
Every quarter we ask our customers to nominate at least one cleaning operative within their team, who deserves this accolade. Although every nominee receives a letter and gift to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the company, one cleaning operative is chosen for the “Employee Star Award”.
After a qualifying period within the company, all our employees are automatically entered into our Perkbox scheme, giving them discounts on a variety of entertainment.
Progression within the Team
We believe in rewarding employees who show commitment, dedication and are keen to promote internally. We have several members that have worked their way up through the company, having started as cleaners.
Regular company meetings are held, which are not only for training purposes, but a place for employees to give feedback and ideas on how we can progress and improve. These valuable gatherings also give an opportunity to publicly recognise excellent performance.
Under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006, we often have employees transferred to the company. In such situations, we offer the same training and support as our regular team. Their progress is monitored at regular intervals and reviewed by the Contracts Manager.
COMMUNICATION TO STAFF
One of the keys to the success of any business relationship is good communication, this is one of our greatest strengths. We have regular meetings with all our employees to ensure that they are updated with company events, customer feedback and relevant changes in Health & Safety.
